The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has released the first installment of the Post-Matric Scholarship for SC Students 2025-26 via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). A total of 38 lakh students have received the scholarship amount in their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.
How to Check
- Visit PFMS Payment Status portal.
- Enter your Bank Account Number or Aadhaar Number.
- Enter Captcha and submit.

Important
- Installment amount depends on course group and day-scholar/hosteller status.
- If your bank account is not Aadhaar-linked, link it immediately to receive future payments.
- For non-receipt: Contact your institute Nodal Officer or raise a grievance on NSP.

📋 Documents Required

- SC Caste Certificate — in GoI format
- Income Certificate — for FY 2024-25, issued by Tehsildar/SDM

📝 Step 1 — Registration on NSP
- Visit scholarships.gov.in.
- Click New Registration (top-right corner).
- Fill: Name, DOB, Mobile, Email, Father/Mother name, Aadhaar, State, Gender, Religion, Category.
- Choose a password and submit.
- An OTP is sent to your mobile — verify it.
- Note your Application ID (sent via SMS/Email).
Note: Aadhaar number is mandatory. The name on Aadhaar must match the application form exactly.
📝 Step 2 — Login & Fill Application
- Login with Application ID + Password + Captcha.
- Select scholarship scheme: Post-Matric Scholarship for SC Students.
- Fill academic details: Institute name, course, year, previous marks.
- Fill bank details: Account number, IFSC, branch.
- Fill family income details.
📤 Step 3 — Upload Documents
- Upload each document (PDF/JPEG) per prescribed format.
- Ensure file sizes are within limits.
- Verify previews before submitting.
✅ Step 4 — Final Submission
- Review all details carefully.
- Click 'Final Submit'.
- Take a printout of the application PDF.
- Note the Application ID for future reference.
🏫 Step 5 — Institute Verification
- Submit the printed application + original documents to your institute Nodal Officer.
- The Nodal Officer verifies on NSP and approves/rejects within the deadline.
- You can check verification status under 'Check Application Status'.

After institute verification, the application goes to the District Welfare Officer / State Welfare Department for final verification. This typically takes 4-6 weeks.

Once approved, the scholarship amount is credited directly to your bank account via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). The PFMS portal can be used to track payment status.
⚠️ Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Wrong Aadhaar name spelling — leads to application rejection.
- Income certificate not in prescribed format / older than 1 year.
- Caste certificate issued by non-competent authority (Tehsildar/SDM/DM only).
- Bank account not in student's name / not Aadhaar-linked.
- Wrong institute DISE code — leads to misrouting of application.
- Missing the institute verification deadline.
- Submitting two scholarships for the same course — strictly prohibited.
