The INSPIRE Fellowship (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research) is offered by the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India. It supports young researchers for pursuing doctoral (Ph.D.) research in science and technology areas.
Eligibility Routes
- Performance-based: 1st rank holder at University/College level in PG (Science)
- Examination-based: Qualifying JEST (within cut-off) or JAM (within cut-off) for Ph.D. admission
Stipend
- 1st & 2nd year (JRF): Rs. 31,000/month + HRA
- 3rd year onwards (SRF): Rs. 35,000/month + HRA
- Annual contingency grant: Rs. 20,000
INSPIRE Fellowship 2025: Provisional Selection List Released
DST released the provisional selection list for INSPIRE Fellowship 2025. Selected candidates must secure Ph.D. admission by May 2026.
The Department of Science & Technology (DST) has released the Provisional Selection List for INSPIRE Fellowship 2025. A total of 1,250 candidates have been provisionally selected.
Important
- Provisional Offer: Conditional on securing Ph.D. admission at a recognized institute within 1 year (by 30 November 2026).
- Final Offer: Issued after Ph.D. admission proof submitted + verified by host institute.
- Fellowship Start Date: Date of joining Ph.D. program (back-dated for stipend calculation).
